Summer Dreams
Under the blossoms of a cherry tree
I sleep in the hot afternoon sun
Beating on my back.
I lie in the shade, having summer dreams
About demons and dragons’ epic battles,
Waking up by the slow rustling of trees,
Sleeping happily
Under the cherry tree.
Our Woods
The woods,
Silent thick green galore…
I ask for more
On the sandy shore,
Watching the bang of fireworks.
Deer
The deer are here,
Oh so small and silent!
Grazing in the world of trees,
Swiftly moving.
Woods House
Lifters and litters
Of wood, you say,
Let’s make a house first come up,
And make the frame.
Out of pure design
We make the walls.
Three days later
They’re still standing.
SUMMER POEMS (Continued)

Rock Pool
In the rock pool
Where the frogs graze,
Next to a house
As quiet as a mouse,
We shriek and jump.
Buoy
In the Sound,
Floating around,
We find a buoy.
We tug and pull,
And then come ashore
To bring a fish trap.
Constellations
When I look up in the sky
I see a lion flying by
The big and little dipper
Scoop up the blackness
The moon is the eye
Of a dragon that is black
With sparkles on its coat
The sun rises and all these pictures
Fade into the bright blue sky
